Happy Easter!

 

Hey everyone!  We hope you all had a good Easter celebrating Christ's Resurrection, hanging out with your family, and eating that delicious chocolate!  Speaking of chocolate, we had an egg hunt today.  It was sooooo much fun racing around, trying to find the most eggs.  The best part of the egg hunt was the chocolate!!!!!! Yum!!!!

Eeeeek!!!! Tomorrow is April Fool's Day!!!!  We can't wait!

Make an Owl Pillow

Today I'm going to show you how to make an awesomely, epic owl pillow (Well, we think it's awesomely, epic).
You're going to need:
-3 different kinds of fabric
-Sewing machine or needle and thread
-2 buttons
-Hot glue gun
-Polyester Fluff (or something to stuff the pillow with!)

Draw and cut out a pattern piece for the pillow.  This is what mine looks like.

Cut out 2 pillow parts, 2 wings, and to circles (for the eyes).

Use a zig-zag stitch to attach the wings and circles to one of the main pillow pieces.  Sew the buttons on top of the circles.

With right-sides together, sew the back pillow piece to the front piece.  Sew the "U" part of the pillow, leaving the top open.

Fill with some fluff and sew the top ends close.  Hot glue on a small triangle for the nose.

And voila!  You're done!

Make a High-Waist Skirt

 Hey girlies!  I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring.  And so, to get into the springy spirit, I'm going to show you how to make this super, simple skirt that you can wear for Easter (eeek!  It's next week!) or any other occasion. 

You're going to need:

-fabric

-elastic

-sewing machine or thread and needle

-safety pin

-scissors

Cut the two pieces of fabric.  The first, for the skirt, should be 7 inches wide and 15 inches long.  The second, for the sash, should be 4 inches wide and at least 30 inches long. (I forgot to make it 30 inches long.)

 

Hem the bottom of the skirt piece and make a casing for the elastic on the top. (It's like a wide/big hem.)  

 

Cut a piece of elastic 10-10 1/4 inches long.  Put the safety pin on the end and push through the casing to the other side.  (Make sure the end of the elastic doesn't go into the casing.  There should be a little elastic on both ends sticking out.)

 

Right sides together, pin the the sides of the skirt together and sew down the side.  We finished it off with a zig-zag stitch, but that is optional.

 

Now, for the sash, fold the fabric in half the the long way right sides together.  Sew the long side and one short side.

 

Right side out the sash and fold the edges in on the unsewed short side and sew.

 

Voila!  There it is!  A cute and trendy skirt for the spring!

I wore a white t-shirt (which I also made) with the skirt along with pink sandals from American Girl, and some beads.

Make a Gathered Scarf

 Hey all!  Happy Spring!  Well, it may be spring it doesn't exactly feel like it here.  So, today, to keep warm, I'm going to show you how to make a gathered scarf.

Your Going to Need:

-fleece

-thin elastic

-sewing machine

Cut the fleece 2-3 inches wide (we recommend 3, but we did 2) and 25 inches long, but you can make it longer if you want.

Place the elastic on the middle of the fleece on the wrong side.  Start sewing the elastic to the fleece making sure to pull the elastic so it gathers the fleece.  Make sure to pull it enough so it gets some good gathers, but not to much so it rolls up.

You're done!  These add a warm and springy (well, sort of) look to an outfit.

How to do Pin Curls

Hey everyone!  Today I was thinking of what to do for a post.  I just started trying stuff out with my hair and......Voila!  Pin Curls!  This are really quite easy and very pretty.

To start off, comb a section of your hair.  Make sure it's not a big section but also make sure it's not to small.

Twist the hair section in any direction you like.

Spritz the twisted hair strand with water.  Don't soak it or else it will take forever to dry but make sure you get it nice and damp.

Twist the twisted strand into a little mini bun.

Secure the end in with a bobby PIN.  (Now you see where we got the name?)

Finish of the rest of the hair with the steps above.  Woah!!!!! Isn't it just amazing????  But....we aren't done yet!  Though I am going to wear my hair like this sometime in the near future. ;) Spritz all of the little buns one more time.

Let the hair dry completely before taking the buns out. 

Ta da!  There you have them.  Pin Curls!!!!  I think these will be really cute for the spring!
