OOTD: Lace Kimono

Hey everyone!  While it may not feel like spring where you are, you can at least start dreaming up outfits for those warm, sunny days.  Today, we decided to create an OOTD with this beautiful lace kimono as our main piece.  We think it's so cute and we can't wait to wear it!  What are your thoughts on it?

Packing for Camp!

Hey everyone! Today, we started packing for camp.  We still haven't finished and I hope finish sometime!  Everyone is trying to pack their whole wardrobe!  I mean, I know camp is for almost the whole summer, but we don't have that much room.  We are all going to be in a little cabin.  As you can see our room is a mess.  And who knows where Kirsten and Josefina are!  Kirsten probably doesn't even know we are going to camp (I don't think anyone told her). :)

Marisol is trying to squeeze everything into one small backpack.  This will be interesting!

Sonali thinks mom will make/buy her a whole new wardrobe for camp.  Nice try, Sonali!  Her she is trying to decide which shirt to pack.  She just can't decide.  (Is it really that hard of a decision?!?!?)  In the end she packed both.

And here I am in the midst of all this chaos looking as chic and pretty as always! :)  I got the necklace I am wearing from one of our lovely sponsors Cinder Frost Studios.  She has the cutest accessories!  Now my sisters are calling for me, wondering where I snuck off to.  I guess it's time to go back to the chaos!  I am so excited for camp, but I'll be happy when everything is packed!
Are you going to camp?
Stay cool!

Adollable Photography: Bokeh

Bokeh may sound like a fancy and complicated word, but it really isn't.  Bokeh is of out-of-focus areas in a photograph.  For example, look at this picture below.  It you look at the green part or out-of-focus part you will see little circles.  This is what bokeh is.

Now you're probably wondering, How do you get bokeh?  It can actually be quite easy.  I find that leaves in the background and out-of-focus (just because it's out-of-focus doesn't mean it is bokeh) will usually give me some bokeh.  You can also try leaves.  If you look at the picture below you can see there sort of is bokeh, but it's not very clear.  So to help it we went on to Picmonkey (and this effect is FREE) and we clicked on Effects.  We scrolled down until we got to Bokeh.  We then applied it.  You can adjust the bokeh to different sizes.  One thing though, when we applied it, it covered the whole picture so this is what we did.  When you apply an effect a box will come up.  You'll want to click on Original under Mode.  Then drag the circle over the bokeh you want to get rid of.  Voila!  Below is a before and after picture of a photo we added bokeh to.

Before......

After......

What do you think of bokeh?

A Package from Elegant Basics!

Hey there!  A few weeks ago we received a package from the Etsy shop Elegant Basics by AGMarket.  We absolutely adore everything!  We got French lace leggins, a tulle and satin skirt, and a jean jacket.  (The shirt and shoes we already had.)

Everything fits beautifully and looks adorable on us.  (Well....me so far because I haven't taken the clothes off yet so my sisters haven't been able to wear them.) ;)
The jean jacket has floral cuffs and faux pockets.  The skirt has an elastic waistband and can be worn dressed up or down.  The leggings are just so pretty!  They have a floral design and, the best part, the lace is from France!

This outfit is perfect for hanging out with your friends, going shopping at the mall or eating ice cream on a summer day.  I would definitely recommend Elegant Basics to anyone.  Your doll's wardrobe isn't complete without something from her shop.  Plus, she has amazing prices.  Check it out: www.etsy.com/shop/ElegantBasics

Springtastic Day 6: Make A Pretty Flower Belt

Hey everyone!  Today's Springtastic post is a guest post from the lovely Claire!
Hello! My name's Claire, from Carrot and Claire, Doll Express, and hello little birdy. Today I'm going to show you how to make a flower belt. It is really easy to make, and is an adorable Spring accessory.

You will need:
a fabric flower(You can make one using this tutorial)
a string of fake pearls that are flat on the bottom(for sewing) or ribbon
Velcro
hot glue gun
your doll for measurement

1) Measure the strand of pearls or ribbon around your doll's waist, leaving about a half inch hanging.

2) Hot glue a small piece of Velcro to each side. Try it on your doll to see if it fits.

3) Hot glue a flower on the belt.
Ta-da! Fabulous!

Creates a sophisticated look!

Hope you liked it!

By the way, my doll, Dakota is #55, outfit from American Girl, hair accessory from Target.

Isn't it adorable?!?!?  We can't wait to try this!  Thank you so much Claire!

Springtastic Day 5: Celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

Hi everyone!  Today we celebrated Cinco de Mayo!  Did you?  To get in a festive mood we put on some bright and colorful clothing.
Marisol wore this adorable dress we won in a giveaway on AGMarket's blog My American Girl's Story .  (By the way it's an amazing blog!  One of our favorites.  You should check it out if you haven't already.)  Isn't it so cute?  Many thanks to Angelique and her sponsor!

Nadia wore a bright tie-dye print tank, hot pink, jean shorts (from the Industrious Dog), and some strappy sandals.  She wore her hair in the side knot.  You can see how to do that here.  Actually, she stole the outfit I was going to wear.  She said she had called "dibs" on it yesterday.  Whatever that means.  I think she just thinks I have great taste. ;)

Sonali wore these awesome southwestern print, corduroy skinny jeans (that will be in our Etsy hopefully by tonight!), a hot pink top, some purple flats, and a cute, flower hair clip.  Aren't the skinnies awesome or what?!?!

And last but not least (and the best :)), I wore my Feast Outfit.  And, I put my hair up in a French Twist.  Isn't just perfect for Cinco de Mayo?????

And a group shot.  Oh, and if you're wondering if our other sisters (Elizabeth and Kirsten) dressed up, yes they did, but someone has to take the pictures. :)

What did you do today?
Adios,
Josefina

P.S. We will have a giveaway once we reach 30 followers and this is our 40th post!!!!!

Springtastic Day 4: The Side Knot

Hi there!  Sorry that we didn't get up a post for our series yesterday.  Today, however, I'm going to show you how to do the side knot.  Yup, that's right.  You probably have heard of top knots, so I was thinking, why not a side knot?  They are very easy and look great with everything.

First, comb the hair to one side.  There shouldn't really be a part.  It should all be going to one side.

Pull the hair back until it's behind the ear and then start twisting it.

Then wrap it around into a bun shape.  Use hair elastics to hold in place and then use bobby pins to pin it close to the head.

If your doll has short or layered hair some strands will probably fall out.  That is totally ok.  In fact, that was the look we were hoping for.

And there you have it!  The side knot!

What do you think of the side knot?
Love,
Marisol

P.S.  We just added a bunch more items to our Etsy shop!  Check it out! etsy.com/shop/sodapopstreet
