Get into the Christmas Spirit!

Christmas is in three days!  How exciting!  However, sometimes you can get overwhelmed with all of the busyness of getting ready for it that you can forget to enjoy the excitement of Christmas.  Here are some of our favorite things we like to do to get into the spirit!
Wrap presents!  It's always exciting to wrap up gifts for our friends and family and the best part it putting them under the tree!

Hang up our stockings!  It is quite simple, but just adding a colorful stocking to the fireplace makes it so much more exciting!
Decorate the tree!  If you haven't already, then you need to do it!  And if you already have, add some more!  There is never to many ornaments on the tree. (Unless, of course, it falls over.) :)

Wear some sparkle!  Sonali always likes to add a sparkly accessory to her outfit when it gets close to Christmas.  Something as simple as bow is perfect for sparkling up your entire day!
Dress up in holiday attire and get your picture taken in front of the tree!
Read your favorite Christmas stories (or watch movies of  them).  Our favorite is the story of the birth of Jesus, but we also really enjoy The Nutcracker.  What are your favorite stories?
Eat some candy canes!  Yum, yum, yummy!  Nothing screams more Christmas to us then the delicious and refreshing taste of a candy cane in our mouth.
While all of these are very fun and exciting things to do, we can't forget the true meaning of Christmas and the reason for the season.  Jesus Christ!  Who, was born in a stable and laid in a manger.  We hope you have a fantastic and amazing Christmas!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
XOXO,
The Adollable Dolls
P.S.  We forgot to let you know, but Saige was added to our family in November!
P.P.S.  Stay tuned for a GIVEAWAY coming up soon to celebrate our one year blogoversary which is in ten days!

Setting Up the Christmas Tree

Thanksgiving is over and it's that time of year to set up the Christmas tree!  Yay!  It is one of our favorite parts of getting ready for Christmas.  Cecile and I went to cut down the tree then Nadia, Elizabeth, and Tiana decorated it.

It was tons of fun!  Have you set up your Christmas tree yet?

Make a Gathered Scarf

Hey all!  Happy Spring!  Well, it may be spring it doesn't exactly feel like it here.  So, today, to keep warm, I'm going to show you how to make a gathered scarf.
Your Going to Need:
-fleece
-thin elastic
-sewing machine
Cut the fleece 2-3 inches wide (we recommend 3, but we did 2) and 25 inches long, but you can make it longer if you want.

Place the elastic on the middle of the fleece on the wrong side.  Start sewing the elastic to the fleece making sure to pull the elastic so it gathers the fleece.  Make sure to pull it enough so it gets some good gathers, but not to much so it rolls up.

You're done!  These add a warm and springy (well, sort of) look to an outfit.

Happy Spring!

How to do Swedish Braids

Today, I (Kirsten) am going to show you how to do Swedish braids.  I wear these all the time since I'm Swedish.  They may look complicated to do, but they are actually quite easy.  These work best on dolls with long hair, but you can still try it if you have shorter hair.

First, split your hair in half and make two braids on the sides of your head.

Now, this is the part that can get complicated so pay attention.  You will find there is a little "hole" underneath the braid.  (Where the finger is.)

Tuck the end of the braid in the hole and shove upward until it will stay in place by itself.  Repeat on the other side.

It will look like this.  Then take some ribbon and tie in a bow around the braid at about the top of the ear.

You just did Swedish braids!

Have fun wearing them,
Kirsten

Make a Fleece Scarf

I don't know about you, but it sure is chilly where we are.  So, to help warm us up, I'm going to show you how to make a fleece scarf.
You Will Need:
-scissors
-3 different kinds of fleece
-sewing machine or needle and thread

Cut one strip from each fleece that is 3 inches wide and about 25 inches long.

Line the pieces up and pin down the middle.

Sew a straight line down the middle of the fleece to sew the pieces together.
Cut 1/2-3/4 of an inch wide strips almost to the thread.  Repeat on the other side.

And you're done!  Bundle up and get ready to go outside!

Stay warm!

Make a Felt Hairbow

Another easy DIY to help you get ready for Valentines days!  This is so simply and cute!  Make some in a bunch of colors!
You Will Need:
Felt
Hot Glue
Scissors
Bobby Pin
Pen

On the felt, draw to triangle shapes and connect them.  This is for the bow shape.  Cut it out.

Cut out a long, skinny rectangle.

Wrap the rectangle around the middle of the bow shape and hot glue it in the back.  Make sure to not hot glue the rectangle to the bow part.  Slide in a bobby pin.

And you're done!  These can make cute Valentines Days gifts too!
Do you like my outfit?  This is what I am going to wear on Valentines Day!  What are you going to wear?

Even more love!
Kirsten

Make Some Cozy Slippers!

Hey all!  It's this time of year when you just want to curl up and stay warm.  (Well, that's what we want to do at least.)  So, to help you get even warmer, I'm going to show you how to make some cozy slippers!

You Will Need:
-Fleece
-Scissors
-Cardboard
-Hot Glue Gun

First, cut two strips about an inch wide and fold in half.

Then, measure around your doll's foot and trim the ends where the toes begin.

Trace your foot on some cardboard and cut four.

Fold your fleece in half, then lay one of the cardboard pieces on top and trace the upper part like the picture above.  Cut out with an extra 1/4-1/2 inch around.

Cut out four fleece soles with an extra 1/4-1/2 inch around.  Cover the cardboard soles and hot glue on the bottom.

Take your half of the shoe part of fleece and cover the top of one of the fleece soles.  Hot glue in the back.

Hot glue your sides to the side of the sole.
Hot glue another sole to the back, cardboard sides together.   Cut two more strips of fleece about a 1/2 inch wide and wrap around the shoe where the two soles meet to give the slipper a more clean, finished look.

Ta-da!  Your done already!  Now curl up with  a good book, some hot chocolate, a fuzzy blanket, and some cozy slippers!

Enjoy the hot chocolate!
